trees that line city streets and fill the suburbs.

The Transvaal Museum has natural history displays and is the home
of Mrs. Ples, the australopithecine fossil found at Sterkfontein
in the Cradle of Humankind.
SPORTS
Loftus Versfeld is home to the Bulls
who compete in Super 15. The stadium has been used for major sporting
events since 1903.
NAMES
There has been discussion of renaming Pretoria as Tshwane. The
matter is complex. Pretoria -- the name and the city -- was the
symbol of the successive apartheid administrations that discriminated
against blacks for decades until 1994. Some view a name change as
one way to quicken the process of racial harmony and political integration.
