| "In 2012
Planeta.com continues to focus our attention and engagement
on city environments and the role cities play as critical hubs
to rural areas," said Planeta.com Founder Ron
Mader.
Mader - a featured speaker at the Responsible
Tourism in Cities Conference held in Durban, South Africa
-- is keen on working with locals and visitors in crafting new
ways of consciously exploring the world.
"Much of the traditional 'tourism' offering around the
globe is stale and unable or uninterested in keeping up with
innovation," Mader. "Travelers who are not inspired
don't make the trek. Locals who do not receive benefits from
travel are less hospitable to visitors. Stale tourism leads
to a vicious cycle for everyone. What we're keeping track of
around the world is the rise of conscious travel and responsible
tourism."
Phase Two of Planeta.com's Las Vegas coverage includes updates
of the wiki
and an invitation for locals to participate in the global unconference
Responsible
Tourism Week.
"We would like to challenge Las Vegas and other cities
around the world to show us how they implement strategies that
benefit locals and visitors," Mader said.
