About the event
In the twenty-first century, anthropology and cultural studies have heavily borrowed from other disciplines and from popular culture, developing new theoretical and methodological approaches. Through this conference we seek to explore the contributions and limitations afforded by these new perspectives, and the foreseeable directions for the study of culture in anthropology and neighboring disciplines.

This conference seeks to bring together specialists who are transforming anthropology, whether from anthropology itself, or from other disciplines through joint work with anthropologists. We are considering four different fields: the anthropology of the senses, the adoption in academia and other spheres of anthropology of methodologies and representation strategies in popular culture, inter-species studies, and the dialogue between anthropology and the arts, including literary fiction. Papers will be presented in English and Spanish.

The conference takes place at the Faculty of Anthropology, Campus of Social Sciences of the Autonomous University of Yucatan, during three consecutive mornings and early afternoons.
