You can invite someone to go live with you if they have a Mentions account and watching your broadcast on iPhone. You can go live with as many people as you want in a broadcast, but only with one person at a time.
To add someone to your Live video broadcast:
- Swipe left until you see Live Viewers
- Select the viewer you want to go live with and tap their icon
- Tap Invite to Go Live
Once someone joins your broadcast, they’ll show up in the upper right of your screen.
To remove someone from your broadcast:
- Tap the window with your guest
- Tap x
To share live video, tap on Update Status and then select the Live Video icon. You can write a quick description and choose the audience that you want to share with before going live. During your broadcast, you’ll see the number of live viewers, the names of friends who are tuning in and a real-time stream of comments. When you end your broadcast, it will be saved on your Timeline like any other video, which you can then delete or keep for your friends to watch later.
You can discover live videos from your friends and public figures you follow right in News Feed. While watching a live video, you can tap the Subscribe button to get notified the next time the broadcaster goes live. Learn more about Live in our Help Center.
Facebook Live videos are easy to set up, but does anyone know how to schedule one in advance? In particular, I’d like to know if it’s possible to 1) secure a link and 2) provide the code for embedding on other websites. I know how to do this on the spot, but I have no clue how to set it up for a future time.

Facebook on a laptop or computer operates differently than a mobile device.
Mobile Facebook does not allow one to share posts to groups or pages.
Likewise one cannot ‘check in’ using Facebook on a laptop.

Additional Skills for those who have a business page on Facebook
Can you share a link from ‘others’ who have posted on your page? Be generous!
Facebook requires all Business Pages to be linked to a personal account so that they can administrate the Page. It’s also against Facebook Terms of Policy to create a personal account for a business. You can learn more about Facebook’s Terms of Service in the following article from our Help Center:

A good friend asks how best to use Facebook:
I wanted to have only a company account but you have to have it associated with a personal account, which is a problem. I’d like to have somebody to take care of the posts on the company facebook, but I can’t because it is using my own account
if I am in a page which offers a share on facebook button. If I give it to that button, the link will go directly to my personal wall and not the company wall, where I would like it to appear. same happens with flickr and other automatic application that publishes automatically your pictures to facebook, well these will go directly to my personal account wall and not the company, it is really annoying and I don’t know the way around it.
I have a personal and a business Facebook account, and I didn’t need to associate the business one with any other account. I use two different email addresses for the two accounts and I use Firefox browser for personal and Internet Explorer for business, otherwise they do seem to get mixed up. If I’m working on adding friends to the business account I always do it through Internet Explorer.

Tips from Guurrbi Tours
We ask for our customers e-mail address on our feedback forms, and then write inviting them to stay in touch through facebook. There’s a good steady take-up rate. We also have a lot of people from Willie’s community who are facebook friends, and who enjoy hearing about what Guurrbi is up to.
We have a personal page set up as Guurrbi Tours Cooktown – not a business page. I prefer this – it seems much more personal and interactive – but I know there are others who would argue otherwise, so check it out before deciding.
Like Twitter, the golden rule is don’t just shove information out there – you have to interact with your Friends and Followers. Re-tweet or Share interesting posts. Take time to see what others are up to and leave a comment or simply click the ‘Like’ button. People will quickly ignore you if communication is a one-way street. It all helps to keep your product in your customers’ minds, so they’re more likely to talk about it/recommend it to others.
Other tips – make your page inviting with pictures, links to articles etc. Clear your page regularly of unwanted ‘postings’. There are all sorts of apps on offer – do not get tempted into sending sea creatures to your friends or farm animals or answering questions about your horoscopes or playing weird games! Just hit ‘Ignore’ or Delete them if they land on your page. Remember potential customers are going to look at it, so make sure your page looks inviting, not covered in rubbish or pics of drunken friends!!
One other note – we are very selective about the pages we support and have a golden rule not to get involved in politics (although sometimes it’s very tempting!!!) Much better to rise above it and not risk alienating customers!

What’s a pinned post?
Pinned posts are Page posts that admins have chosen to display prominently at the top of their Page. A pinned post always appears in the top left of a Page’s timeline and has a flag in its top-right corner. A post a Page admin pins to the top of their Page will remain there for 7 days. After that, it’ll return to the date it was posted on the Page’s timeline.
Posts from people who like a Page are not eligible to be pinned posts. Page admins can only pin posts created by the Page. More info
What is the Facebook like button?
The Like button enables users to make connections to your pages and share content back to their friends on Facebook with one click. Since the content is hosted by Facebook, the button can display personalized content whether or not the user has logged into your site. From the admin panel page – where your own cover photos/header is located. Once you click the status box to type in a message two small icons pop up at the bottom of the box. Several things for you to remember:
- You can only change the username of your page once after you set it the first time.
- You can’t transfer the ownership of a username to another party.
- You can’t violate anyone else’s trademark rights.
- If you are acquiring a username to sell it in the future (squatting), you will lose it.
- Usernames may be reclaimed for other unauthorized usages.
Profiles and Pages
Facebook has released a new tool that lets users convert their personal profile into a Facebook Page. Though the terminology is often muddled, a key difference between the two features is that users can simply “like” a Page while they must “friend” (establish a mutual relationship with) a profile, which makes Pages a much better solution for businesses and public figures. How do I close a page on Facebook?
“New Facebook” has a newsfeed setting that by default is automatically set to show ONLY posts from people who you’ve recently interacted with or interacted the most with (which would be limited to the couple of weeks just before people started switching to the new profile). So in other words, for both business and personal pages, unless your friends/fans commented on one of your posts within those few weeks or vice versa – you are now invisible to them and they are invisible to you!!
HERE’S THE FIX: On the homepage click the “Most Recent” title on the right of the Newsfeed, then click on the drop down arrow beside it and select “Edit Options”, click on “Show Posts From” and change the setting to “All Of Your Friends and Pages” (you can also access the “Edit Options” link at the very bottom of the facebook homepage on the right)
Note: Business pages do not have a newsfeed however page owners should adjust the settings on their personal accounts.
Facebook stores a limited list of your notifications.

Response: What you’re trying to do could backfire. I’d caution against it until you talk to someone who knows better.

2012 Data Use Policy
Facebook: “We recently announced some proposed updates to our Data Use Policy, which explains how we collect and use data when people use Facebook, and our Statement of Rights and Responsibilities (SRR), which explains the terms governing use of our services.
We encourage you to review these proposed changes and give us feedback before we finalize them. Please visit the “Documents” tab of the Facebook Site Governance Page https://www.facebook.com/fbsitegovernance to learn more about these changes and to submit comments before 9 AM PST on November 28, 2012.”
Facebook is successful because they built an entire constellation of products by allowing other people to do the work. So Facebook is different for everyone. Some people spend all their time on Mafia Wars. Some spend all their time on Farmville. There are hundreds or maybe thousands of different high-quality time sinks available, so there’s something there for everyone.
