The Māori are the Indigenous Polynesian people of New Zealand / Aotearoa. They arrived from Polynesian islands before 1300 AD. They are the first known inhabitants before the Europeans arrived in the early 1800s.

September 10-16 are the dates for the 2018 Māori Language Week / Te Wiki o te Reo Māori.

The theme is ‘kia kaha te reo Māori.’
