The Māori are the Indigenous Polynesian people of New Zealand. They arrived from Polynesian islands before 1300 AD. They are the first known inhabitants of New Zealand (Aotearoa) before the Europeans arrived in the early 1800s.

September 10-16 are the dates for the 2018 Māori Language Week / Te Wiki o te Reo Māori.
