México = el ombligo de la luna
México: ¿por qué el ombligo de la luna?
The word Mēxihco has been the subject of numerous versions about its meaning. The most accepted is the one that divides the word in the words mētztli = moon, xictli = navel or center (that for the antiquity were synonymous words), and -co = suffix of place. So Mexico could mean a place in the center (or navel) of the moon, or in the center of the lake of the moon – if we consider that Mēxihco was also a reference to Cem Ānáhuac, the “land surrounded by water”, or more rightly: “[the] totality [of what is] next to the waters” –

Internet Access

Wi-Fi access is increasingly available through a number of outlets.
Travelers will find easy access at cybercafes in Mexico. For residents, it’s best to contract the service. One of the best deals is via Telmex/Prodigy: 01-800-123-2222. Pay for a year-long contract and you’ll get the best deal.
If you need mobile access in Mexico and the United States, try the online Todito Card

Portals

The following list is one of the most complete list of Mexico-related websites and indices. Two of the best are Yahoo Mexico and Mexico Web Guide. Most are competitors to one another, but the differences and specializations are quite noticeable. Kudos to the webmasters of the following sites:

Murder, corruption and a short history of Mexico’s drug war

It’s estimated that more than 22,000 people have disappeared in Mexico since the drug war began in 2006, and the recent disappearance of 43 students from police custody has reignited questions about the relationship between the state and drug cartels, writes Annabelle Quince.
